I guess the Jonesboro Sun can hide behind the provincial thinking of Northeast Arkansas, thereby stalling the way to progress. What else do you expect from the Andy Griffith simpleton Roy Ockert? It is not surprising that Roy does not think it is a social responsibility to ensure folks are taken care of. He has a clear "I got mine" attitude.
What is troubling is the fact that he works for the Jonesboro Sun, the paper of record for Northeast Arkansas. Reform must come to Arkansas, but it is people like roy ockert that prevent real change from happening.
I'm calling again...Oh! got hung up on again!

ANOTHER REASON TO DIG OBAMA
From the Hartford Courant:
Obama's Letter Was Answer To A Little Boy's Request
A little more than a month earlier, teacher Joyce Ben-KiKi had Aron and his classmates each send letters to a famous person as part of a language arts lesson. Ben-KiKi wrapped the exercise around well-known children's book character "Flat Stanley," so along with the letters, the children each tucked a Flat Stanley figure they had made into each envelope.
"I told them not to expect a letter back," Ben-KiKi said. "I told them these people are very busy and most likely will not write back."
The list of recipients was impressive: Yankee third basemen Alex Rodriguez; Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Olympic gold medalist Mark Spitz; Republican presidential candidate and U.S. Sen. John McCain.
Obama was the only one to write back. Two other boys, Avshalom Drescher and Zachary Goldberg, both 8, also wrote to him, but Aron was the first to get a reply.
Obama's three-page letter to Aron described Flat Stanley's visit with him and his staff in Washington, D.C. It chronicled their busy day together, which included coffee with constituents, a Senate committee meeting and a trip to the gym. It also had historical facts about the U.S. Capitol, details of Obama's job and a confession from Obama.
"Sometimes I get a little nervous before talking in front of a crowd, but Flat Stanley helped me practice the speech," Obama wrote. "He made me recite it in front of him and then even gave me some advice so the speech would go smoothly. Flat Stanley is really a great coach."

ON REAGAN, THE POOR, AND HIJACKING
I wanted to post a comment I made on a website the other day:
Also, this comment make a beautiful statement courtesy of "J" a blogger that posted a comment on thefieldnegro:

I'm supporting Barack as a result of observing the
Church in the United States for 18 years. The Christan Right have completely
abandoned the teachings of Jesus. It says something about a Christian Sect and
political party that is against health care for children and million of others.
That rejects the basic tenant of caring for the poor. The Right has become
extraordinarily arrogant, callous, divisive, and hateful. None of these traits
Jesus displayed or advocated. In McCain and Palin we have proven liars and
frauds. Palin is a complete fraud in the traditional definition, but quite
genuine in the psycho definition. Having voted Republican for 21 years it is
safe to say I will never vote Repub again. The right couldn't care less about my
family and me.Peace! Obama '08http://www.mikesearches.blogspot.com/

"...This will be the true legacy of Reaganism:Just five days left. I hope we can get the trickle down theory finally put to rest. It does not work.
hijacking the Republican party from the Goldwater standard of conservatism and
turning it over to the Christian Right (there's an oxymoron if I've ever heard
one). Somehow they've got socially-conservatives thinking that this election is
about women's rights, and marriage. This has and always will be a matter of
class warfare. To paraphrase GWB because he said it best: his base is the "haves
and the have-mores." Every American should open up their checkbooks and savings
account ledgers and ask themselves if you think he was talking about
you."

"RATFUCKERY"
This is from a great article I read on the Huffington Post during an insomniac episode...
The made up, false persona's we as Americans swallow is indicative of the shallowness, lack of thought, and intellectual curiosity that has come to embody the very fiber of America.
Just make sure my fucking Ipod works, and I'll be alright...Ya know, Mussolini just made sure the trains ran on time cause he understood the sheep mentality.

Toss in Senator McCain's $8,500-a-month Hollywood makeup artist, and the
fake "man of the people" maverick scam totally disintegrates. Underneath we find
a spasmodic, filthy rich, Mr. Magoo -- a typical Bush Republican who embraces
the same kind of divisive ratfuckery we've
endured for too many years from the likes of Karl Rove, Lee Atwater, Richard Nixon
(McCain has shamefully resurrected the Southern Strategy) and, most
disturbingly, the politics of Joe McCarthy.

MUST SEE TV! JESUS LOVES BIGOTS, HATES BLACKS
Caught this on HuffPo, the mixture of religion and bigotry is very dangerous indeed...this flows together with my other posts on the Christian Right...
I am adding some quotes from the video courtesy of crooksandliars:
It was kind of strange, dintcha think, that John McCain came to the defense of his supporters last night after Barack Obama pointed out that people at McCain/Palin rallies were shouting out "terrorist" and "kill him!" in reference to Obama.
Now an Al Jazeera camera crew caught the honest sentiments of McCain/Palin supporters at an Ohio rally:
“I’m afraid if he wins, the blacks will take over. He’s not a Christian! This is a Christian nation! What is our country gonna end up like?”
“When you got a Negra running for president, you need a first stringer. He’s definitely a second stringer.”
“He seems like a sheep - or a wolf in sheep’s clothing to be honest with you. And I believe Palin - she’s filled with the Holy Spirit, and I believe she’s gonna bring honesty and integrity to the White House.”
“He’s related to a known terrorist, for one.”
“He is friends with a terrorist of this country!”
“He must support terrorists! You know, uh, if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it must be a duck. And that to me is Obama.”
“Just the whole, Muslim thing, and everything, and everybody’s still kinda - a lot of people have forgotten about 9/11, but… I dunno, it’s just kinda… a little unnerving.”
“Obama and his wife, I’m concerned that they could be anti-white. That he might hide that.”
“I don’t like the fact that he thinks us white people are trash… because we’re not!”
Yep, McCain must be so proud.
The rest of us, well ... let's just say those polls should tell the story.

This is from the heartland of America, Ohio.
We need to marginalize, at the very least, the Christian Right, we need systemic change in the US and we for damn sure do not need McCain or Sarah fucking Palin in office. If they do get in, we are in for real trouble.
